Personal Projects

miscellaneous
I  enjoy challenging myself with different projects throughout the year to help me discover and learn new techniques. These are a collection of a few of my personal projects ranging from illustrations, virtual games, to Christmas cards.

Project Helmet

This was a project to try and reinterpret famous "helmets" from different pop culture icons. I wanted to try to do a diverse range of helmets with different shapes and colours. I tried to make things as symmetrical as possible. This was done in illustrator and was eventually printed and framed in a 3x3 grid.

Movie "House"

Similar to "Project Helmet" I tried to take some of my favourite notable "houses" in films and reinterpret them in my style.

#NationalDavidLucasDay

#NationalDavidLucasDay was conceived during a very slow day in February of 2015. Numerous social content were posted throughout the day asking everyone to appreciate and celebrate a David Lucas in their life.

For it’s second year,  I decided to elevate it with a microsite with a call to action for anyone who is a David Lucas or knows a David Lucas. A series of videos and social media posts were made to lead people to the website and teach them how they can celebrate National David Lucas Day.

This was a fun exercise in writing and developing  a short campaign using social media.

Socially Distant Social Gatherings

Socially Distant Social Gathers (SDSG) was a self initiative to get friends together during the covid pandemic and play an online "game show" inspired by different popular existing games. I created a brand around the games that changed with the different themes.

Christmas Cards

Since 2020, I decided to send out my own Christmas cards to help spread some joy during the festive season in the middle of a pandemic. What started off as a quick "pun-filled" illustrative cards became more complex and experimental as the years went on. This project became a way for me to experiment different styles and as well try a more hand-crafted approach using different mediums like linocut and watercolour.

I always try to add something special to the cards to add humour and/or uniqueness, whether it's instructions on "how to open a card", nutritional facts, or using wax seals for the envelope.
